Bulgaria is an increasingly popular destination for hunters.
The Strandza National Park offers plenty of opportunites for hunting.
The Strandza park covers most of the area of the Primorsko and Tsarevo municipalities.
There are four main hunting grounds in the Strandza:
• Ropotamo
• Gramatikovo
• Tundzha
• Topolovgrad
The Ropotamo reserve is located in the municipality of Primorsko about 45km south of Bourgas city. It covers an area of about 20,000 ha. The main hunting species include red deer, fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar.
The area around the Ropotamo river is protected. There are many endangered species, and no hunting is allowed by the river.
The “Via Pontica” migration route passes over the Ropotamo, the many species of birds are of interest to tourists interested in nature.
The Gramatikovo hunting area is about 30km inland from Tsarevo town, near the village of Gramatikovo.
The wildlife includes woodcock, red deer, roe deer, wolf, jackal, fox, wildcat and wild boar.
The Tundzha hunting area is named after the Tundzha river, and is located in the Strandzha mountains.
The hunting species include fallow deer, roe deer, wild boar, jackal, fox and pheasant.
The Topolovgrad hunting area is located along the Tundzha River valley, and Sakar mountain.
The main wildlife is red deer, wild boar, jackal and fox. Red deer has been introduced by the “Sherba” and “Palamara” breeding stations.
